Black Arts Alliance

Formed in 1985, BAA is the UK’s largest network of Black artists and, even within the ever-changing policies and priorities of the arts infrastructure, BAA is determined to move forward, making tomorrow’s history today.

artBlacklive is a three-day residential training for Live Artists. Let the Talking Consider brings a group of 30 in the presence of two prolific arts representing Black arts and culture. BAA’s library is probably the only one in the North West that is dedicated to Black arts and culture, and its ever-expanding video library archives a history of local artists’ productions and television documentaries.

 
Black Mental Health UK

BMH UK was established in 2006 to raise awareness and address the stigma associated with mental illness. They aim to reduce the inequalities in the treatment and care of people from African Caribbean communities and inform these communities on how to influence the strategic development, policy design and implementation of services.

Immigration Advisory Service

The Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) is the UK’s largest charity providing representation and advice in immigration and asylum law. These services are free to people who are eligible.

They also offer a fee-paying (non-profit) service. We are independent from the Government. Our asylum and immigration advice is provided confidentially.

Refugee Action

RES - Race Equality Sandwell
Race Equality Sandwell (RES) was established on April 1st 2003. This was the result of a need to support the implementation of the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000. RES is a strategic organisation with the mandate to work with partners as a critical friend in order to support them in delivering the requirements of said Act. We are also working very closely with the Local Strategic Partnership to support the 20/20 vision for Sandwell, this involves the current initiatives by the various strategic partnerships to promote race equality and community cohesion.
 
Rewind
The REWIND Project has its roots in Detached Youth Work with young people on the streets of the West Midlands, partly as a reaction to Far Right influences on young people and also negative attitudes from professional staff around issues of ‘race' and identity . This work, although informal education based initially, has over the past five years also been used in schools, colleges and universities, youth services, police and other organisations, to date, in 70 areas of the UK.

Local charity based in Oldbury who traditionally have worked with local tenants and residents groups. SCIPS have been staunch supporters of the BEAM group from the very beginning.

Have recently opened their membership to include local Community Groups also. Individual Membership also available and open to anyone resident within Sandwell - all membership categories being free.

 

The Sickle Cell Society believes that every sickle cell sufferer has the right to quality care. This can only be achieved if funding is made available to educate health carers and other professionals about the condition. The Society aims to provide this.
